My Big Fat Asian fun
now home back in Seattle. It been raining and cold from the time I got here great. It feels surreal to be back home, seems I imagined all of my Asia travels, Or dreamed them and in addition they weren real. Also sounds like I been gone for a year and like I never left, All on top of this. My mind is honestly getting tired from this totally awesome experience.
extremely well, One way I can prove to myself that my 3 month long trip actually happened is through many years I have brought back from Asia. I been posting on this blog a long time taken with my iPhone. I are also taking tons of pictures with a real camera and tonight I finally got to upload them all on my computer that was left in Seattle.
While looking through many years all the memories from this trip are flooding my brain. I cannot believe I forgot that I rode a freaking elephant! If I didn take a video of this terrifying experience I would have never remembered it!
later this morning finally back to work. It good that need to be home : )
My last night of my Big Fat Asian Adventure and I can barely sleep. What an amazing life changing suffer this has been! I saw so a multitude of locations, Met so many wonderful charming people, Ate so much succulent food!
I can help but compare all places I been to one to the next. My overall favorite has definitely been the Philippines with its friendly and welcoming people, exquisite beaches, latest seafood, And star filled nights spent in my hammock. I will be definitely keeping my love affair girls from philippines with this exotic country for a long time!
It gonna be hard to be home in Seattle so soon; I freeze for sure and I still don know my home. But I excited to implement nearly anything I learned from my travels into my life, It be a completely challenge in itself.
until then my challenge is to get at least couple hours of shut eye before the longest day of my life (another day is gonna last 43 hours for me,)
(that always shuts them up)
And it don't just me. each female traveler gets asked that, By consumers. People here are honestly not used to single ladies traveling them selves. Or single ladies in their twenties that aren't already married and accompanied everywhere by their husband.
There also a common belief here in Asia that single foreign female vacation goers are all slurs and are here to sleep around. I don't realize how the locals came up with this but it is what it is. That why the very next time I travel (and in particular to India) I wearing a fake wedding ring ; )
I think my Chacos have used enough. It hard to imagine that my indestructible sandals that I bought at REI way asian women back in 2007 (Or 2006 are finally ready to retire.
We gone through so much together, Have traveled 3 world, Have swam in the islands and SE Asia, Hiked flows, Stampeded across Moscow Red Square And that blue pattern It went so well with everything! (not hard, 80% of my clothes are blue gives me solace that my Chacos have seen the world and felt the hot soil and salt water of the world. these are going to rest in peace in Philippines, And my feet needs to move on.
I spending my last few days of my Big Fat Asian activity with a local Filipino family at their village house in Mindolo near Puerto Galera. Thanks to my friend Trevor I have this particular chance to live and observe local village life.
The village is hidden in the jungle but is right by the fishing line, And it continently located very close to White Beach. Everybody in the village seem to be related and the whole extended family likes to hang out together at grandparents house (Where I being). The main house is produced concrete so it a bit cooler and there the main kitchen and tv. Other buildings are made of bamboo and straw. I sleep at my friend unfinished bamboo house in my sweet camping hammock from REI. The stars at night are astounding,
We been eating fry fish and rice for each meal! Oh and moreover crabs in addition lobsters. It a brilliant life, And the residents are very laid back and kind. And so welcoming!
I spent my Sunday having picnic at the local beach, Then spending time with friends at White Beach, And now eating corn on the cob as you're watching urban Filipino interpretation of Robin Hood on the TV (The show known as Robin Dude haha) throughout the fam.
life's good.

Banaue and Batad Rice balconies were totally rad! OMG so nice! I hiked around the perimeter of town of Banaue (Bottom think about) And its rice terraces, Every local said and lots of people are going? opinion. I stayed at Greenview Lodge and met a great workplace: Ruth, Rachel, And Adrian from ireland in europe and Jasmine and Thomas from Poland. fascinating peeps!
We all took a jeapney together to Batad that wasthat's the craziest off road quality kind of ride I ever had! We all agreed that it felt more like taking a ride in eurodisney than real life: Our jeapney full of tourists and their backpacks including a roof full of Poles, Germans, And Irish riding like a race car on a steep dirt and boulders road with a very very steep cliff on one side and a wall on the other guitar. After 3 months of driving a vehicle I wasn even fazed, Just curious that we lived.
We hiked into Batad and after that to a waterfall with a local lady guide. incredibly good waterfall, Crazy heavy hike! It was like a stair master all of the way; I kept telling to myself it was good for most my butt. I kept at Simon guesthouse (200 Php) With a superb view out my window. Great day's badass action!
Today I hiked with a local guide down from Batad to the principle and took a local suicide bus back to Banaue. thank goodness I had my awesome guide carting my 13 kilo backpack, I almost killed myself on that steep slippery hike today. My hips are angry at me. What the perfect sunny day!
Tonight I ride the night time bus back to Manila. allowed me to wait.
Marcc inquired: Your nightbus to sagada post was helpful. When mate from SF was visiting me, It took us 13 hours by nightbus to get right to the banaue rice terraces and it was brutal. you'll be able to still in sagada, undoubtedly hit up the yogurt house for their homemade cow's milk yogurt (Hopefully you're not lactose-intolerant).
i appreciate you for your message, I glad you popular that post. It surprising, I in point of fact just had dinner at Yogurt House and bought their oatmeal cookies. Hoping to get the actual yogurt absolutely no tomorrow though I am leaving at 7 am.
