W weekend w Szczecinie otwarto wystawę „Po prostu rower” poświęcona jednośladom. Okazją jest przypadające na ten rok 200-lecie wynalezienia roweru.
W 1817 roku Karl Drais stworzył maszynę do biegania - dwa koła połączone ze sobą ramą. Ta data jest uważana za początek historii rowerów. Możemy ją prześledzić na otwartej 18 listopada wystawie "Po prostu rower", która - jak twierdza organizatorzy - jest największą w tym roku w Polsce wystawą poświęcona tej tematyce.
Zamierzeniem twórców jest pokazanie jednośladu nie tylko w kontekście historii przemian jego formy lecz również jego znaczenia jako elementu zmiany społecznej.
Najstarszy model roweru Boneshaker (trzęsący kośćmi) pochodzi 1869 r.Nazwa była adekwatna do wrażeń jego użytkownika - rower posiadał stalowe koła bez ogumienia. Kolejnym ważnym eksponatem jest rower Jamesa Starleya, w którym zastosowana znany nam kształt ramy zwany diamentem. Dzięki niemu wielkości obu kół się zwiększyły co w konsekwencji spowodowało wzrost bezpieczeństwa. Polska jest reprezentowana między innymi przez rowery Kamińskiego, Opatowskiego, Zawadzkiego, Rybowskiego oraz Romet. Najmłodsze jednoślady, to ubiegłoroczne, zwycięskie prototypy w konkursie "Rower z drewna" organizowanego przez Uniwersytet Przyrodniczy w Poznaniu.
Na wystawie wśród kilkudziesięciu obiektów znajdą się konstrukcje ze zbiorów własnych jak i kolekcji Muzeum Sportu i Turystyki w Warszawie oraz kolekcji prywatnych. W sumie obejrzymy przeszło 60 modeli rowerów.
